The agitator in this tank was being replaced. The shaft runs the full height of the tank, from the drive mounting on the roof down to a bearing at the floor. Two impellers on it, one low down and one near the roof.

The fitting work was done inside the tank, with the tank out of service.

How it was built

Stage 01 / 02

The bearing at the floor went in first. We levelled it before any of the shaft went in, and checked the shaft once it was down. Everything above depends on that bearing.

We fitted the lower impeller from the tank floor and the upper one from temporary access.
